Rinne no Lagrange episode 2 discussion

Episode 1 discussion can be viewed here

In this episode we learn that the robot is called an Ovid and it's full name is Vox Aura. I assume the colour change doesn't mean anything important, just that it has been activated fully. But since the colour didn't go back to how it was, I guess it's been on standby for a long time.

Madoka doesn't realise it, but Lan is struggling with how easy it was for her to pilot the Ovid. Being the emotionless type, she won't let her feelings show. Even though she can't pilot properly, she was still going to go out and help Madoka when she was struck down into the water. It is her fault Madoka is piloting so she should be the one to help. But if she's just going to be dead weight, she's better on standby.

Poor Lan

We also get to see Muginami's introduction. She was in the credits just like Lan so we knew she'd be important. Later on Lan should get over whatever is holding her back and Muginami seemed to not want to be there. It was almost like she was running from something and she was quick to split up with Madoka. The base is large and there should be cameras all over so there is nowhere to hide.

So, we have Madoka the energetic type, Lan the emotionless formal type who follows orders and Muginami the laid back type who happily skips off on work. Even in the credits they fit these character types.

The 3 main characters

After Madoka's encounter with Muginami, she goes straight back into battle. But this time she is up against someone who can actually fight well. That being said, she is quickly struck down and submerged in water. Her motivation is also shattered but regained from a call from her cousin. It becomes a 2 on 1 battle. Muginami might get some action in the next episode.

This episode ignited "the nation"'s awareness up a lot of notches and we were all glued to the screen cheering Madoka on and supporting Lan's path to "the light".
