Kirito knows nothing of ALO's world and yet is super powerful. Maybe skills really are based on their own athletic abilities, but they should have realised Kirito was a new player and over powered. A new player far away from their home territory is also just too suspicious. So the logical answer is they're just as airheaded as Kirito.

Pocket pixie

Suguha really didn't notice Kirito was really her brother. There was the moment when he was looking desperate I thought she'd recognise him from that. Kirito even looks like his human self, but we are seeing everything animated so unless they live reality in animation, they probably have just the games animated. She wouldn't necessarily recognise his name because Kirito did mention keeping what happened inside SAO a secret from everyone.

Thinking of Kirito

The enemy, Nobuyuki Sugou, is targeting more than just Asuna by conducting hidden human experiments on the minds of those transferred from SAO. While the potential of the brain could be reached with experiments, the dangers and ethical problems are the major problems. Erasing memories and killing the person they were known as is cruel especially if they won't be able to retrieve the memories. It's all for his selfish reasons.

With this episode, we know more about their relationship and their past. Yoshino was forced onto Mahiro and helped identify he mugger. Even as a child, Yoshino seems to use his head far more than the average person as he was able to figure out the mugger with good research and logic. Mahiro's lucky to have him as an friend. It was funny to see how Yoshino turned Mahiro's accident into saving a puppy and making him a good guy. It's one of the best ways for him to have gotten revenge.

Revenge

Mahiro shows a sign of change by giving an offering to the dead, but even if he's changing slightly, he's still the kind to choose the easiest route. He chose the straight forward offensive against Natsumura and must have chosen to let everyone die previously because he knows helping them is impossible. He doesn't yet know the killer, but I wonder if he found out early, would he leave Hakaze on the island? As long as they have a mutual goal, it should be alright.

Hibito should have used some teru teru bozu to aid his technique. All is good as the rocket will be launching, but a little extra help might have kept away the clouds as well. Apo going missing is more important at the moment, damn kid. They should have trained him with a dog whistle. He might get caught up in the Rocket's blast and Serika won't get to play with him again. That would be really bad.

The parents are showing their worries about Hibito going into space. The dangers were always known, but coming to the final day before he goes into space is much harder than any other. His father is the silent type and while he thinks about it, he wouldn't necessarily give his view. And his mother wanted comfort to get past seeing her son off to space. Either way, have their son go into space will be something they will be proud of.

Kirito enters the land of the fairies, Alfheim online, in order to save Asuna and probably leave the other 300 in their comas. Due to the SAO servers copying over to ALO, it likely carried over Asuna nd the other 300 along with Kirito's stats and levels. Kirito already seemed overpowered in SAO, but skipping the level up process will enable him to save Asuna quicker. Luckily Yui returns instead of being unreadable like the rest of Kirito's items. Asuna needs to be saved quickly to recreate the family.

Now that Kirito has gone back online, Suguha needs to follow him. She's strong enough to stand by his side with her kendo skills and with the system to add support, she's far stronger than the weak knights, especially if she wasn't outnumbered. With random character appearance, neither of them should recognise each other despite the voices being the same. Ignorance is bliss. She can fall in love with Kirito since she can't love Kazuto Kirigaya.

We learn about the logic and limitations of Kusaribe magic this episode and protecting the logic of the world. A voice to request magic and an offering of man made civilisation for the tree of Genesis to grant the magic. While Mahiro and Yoshino can't use magic naturally, I wonder if it is possible for them to learn. It doesn't explain how magic came to be around so anyone could have the possibility even if it is limited potential like Natsumura.

Natsumura vs Mahiro

The iron sickness seems like the opposite of protecting the natural logic. It kills people to aid it's revival, but they'd be considered sacrifices and less like offerings. So, it's likely caused by the revival of the tree of Zetsuen. Is it really worth killing people to revive a tree that would probably go against the tree of Genesis's logic? It'll all depend on why they are trying to revive it. It's normal to see two rival forces to keep balance in the world so while Zetsuen takes life, Genesis will give life while they both maintain order.

This episode was nice showing more of the brothers as children. Hibito created fake footage of a UFO while Mutta protected Hibito with his head. Both of their stories were heartwarming and showed just how much each other was willing to go even if it became a little troublesome for others. His footage was still an obvious fake, but when you get past that, it's the best birthday present Mutta received. I don't blame him for not showing any of the bullies.

The perfect plan
Creative fake

It's finally getting to Hibito's launch. I hope nothing bad happens or Mutta might lose motivation. Then again, I want Mutta to head for Mars as his idea of being an older brother is to be one step ahead. This is the perfect chance for him to fulfil that ideology. Even if Mutta goes to the moon, it might give the brothers an opportunity to go on another mission to Mars together.

Two years of SAO turned out to be pretty useful for teaching Kirito how to fight. He will have missed out on real life, but a life in SAO was worth it. He held his own against Suguha using his one handed style which was pretty strange as I've always seen kendo done as a two handed style. It's too bad he needs the system to support him in order to become a master swordsman. Suguha is more than happy she gets to fight with him and even more so when he suggests taking up kendo again. She can't compete against Asuna for Kirito, but do I prefer her more.

Unique style

Asuna is still in a coma and is being forced into a marriage without her consent and it's all because the "fiance" is keeping the system up and running. I'm not sure how this really benefits him though. He gets adopted into the family, but what exactly for? Marrying Asuna is out of the question as she wouldn't agree to it even if she felt obligated and he can't have a physical relationship because that's morally wrong. He must just be the kind to take what he can without any thought for his actions.

After seeing more of Mahiro's and Aika's relationship, we can see more of him being a protective brother. It makes her life seem more restrictive than it really needs to be. Preventing her from having a boyfriend led her to the only other male she knew that wasn't her brother, Yoshino. How this happened, I'm not sure, but Mahiro still seems to loves her more than a sibling and I bet he wanted to teach her what a kiss felt like. When it comes to incest, expect them to not be related even though a relationship is impossible now.

Let's kiss

With Yoshino fighting against Evangeline, he shows more surveying compared to Mahiro's more head on approach. He is always calm and collected and would never rush head first into battle. It might be what makes him so trustworthy, but also what makes him reserved with dark secrets. After all, he managed to date Mahiro's sister behind his back knowing the consequences. Because secrets never stay secret forever, I wonder how Mahiro will take it when he finds out.

As expected, Azuma is not as bad as everyone was making him out to be. Even if Mutta had answered yes to being prepared to die, it wouldn't necessarily be something to screw up his chances, he just wouldn't gain Azuma's trust. Brian Jay taught him the question and it continued on to be his test. The question is really simple after thinking about it. There are dangers to being an astronaut and that is what will prompt most people to say yes, but similar to how Hibito and Mutta share their active learning skill, they even answer with the same will to live.

Azuma, are you prepared to die?

I'm interested to find out what the Miracle of Doha is. As much as I doubt they have gotten real proof of aliens, it's a weather balloon, I want to see them succeed. It's likely they wanted to keep it a secret between both of them and that's why the footage isn't known. It shouldn't be much longer till Hibito finally goes to the moon. Mutta gave back the disc intending to follow Hibito to the moon, but I always saw him going on a Mars mission. The moon base would be for long term so it's fine.

I was right when I thought Kayaba would let them out early. If they didn't get out now, probably all of them would have died. I can't complain with this outcome since we got a final fight between Kirito and Kayaba. Asuna clearly died so I wonder if she will manage to wake up in reality along with Kirito and the others. Her consciousness is fine so she can still be saved if she didn't make it out. Kirito had 0 HP, but managed to cheat the system. Then he really did die... and then woke up in reality...

Further than any beater

It's too bad I was wrong about everyone dying and the actual time span of the game. It just means Kayaba let 4000 players die. He doesn't even have his reason anymore making his actions kind of pointless. As for the time span, I thought no one actually died by using a similar time alteration as Accel World. That was possible, but unlikely as SAO is set before Accel World.

This is heaven

So that's it, the storyline is over after just half the series. What will the remaining episodes be about, slice of life or school life...? Yui still needs to be revived. It'll all depend why he needs to go back into the game, but after 2 years of being trapped there, it's more likely he developed some kind of trauma. Going back to real life might be hard when readjusting. Kirito calling Asuna's name at the end was a great way to finish.

I'm coming for you Asuna

Zetsuen no Tempest episode 1 discussion

I really like the art style which is more detailed than many other anime. I think I could easily enjoy this just for the art, but I am happy the plot also started well too. Hakaze is out of the way for Samon to destroy the world. I need more information about his objectives before I can really comment about that. Only problem is how the so called strongest mage is trapped on a desert island. How about a little magic?

Hakaze Kusaribe

Mahiro seems to be going further than a normal brother to find Aika's murderer. It's normal to want justice, but when he dropped everything to help Hakaze and to find the murderer, that's where he might like Aika more than just a sibling. I'll assume he doesn't know about Yoshino being her boyfriend otherwise he'd show some kind of acknowledgement to his "current" girlfriend.

O, cursed spite...

The final interview is over, but turns out to be a decoy. I see it as their way to make everyone drunk, lower their guard and easily get the information they need. All throughout the episode, Murasaki was an annoyance acting like a prankster, but when he got more serious, he was a little bit more likable. Telling Mutta to stay away from Azuma is a nice gesture, but that's no fun in the end.

kanpai

It comes off a little strange to ask about the other candidates and trying to make it sound like a casual conversation. It works best since Mutta is drunk. If they are looking for specifics if they are really suited to be an astronaut, an entry level of the tests Hibito has been doing would be an opportunity to see if they can accomplish what is required. I'm sure all of them are capable and understand the risks involved. I'm interested to see what Mutta's answer will be.

Despite the consequences, Taichi told them about Heartseed 2. Inaba should have trusted him since everyone is in it together. There is no value in keeping secrets or trying to benefit from the situation. Well, I'm not complaining since we get a shouta version of Taichi.

Shouta Taichi
Heartseed offering Iori to start over was a nice idea. Starting again with your current knowledge is powerful. Take note of the lottery numbers and go back in time. Disadvantages are you die in that world and you'll never see your family or friends again. You'll meet people just like them in the new world, but they can't possibly replace your current friends.

Proposition

Heartseed 2 followed a strict system while forcing Taichi to keep a major secret from everyone else. Whether it was Heartseed 1 or 2 guiding them to the ending, Iori was finally given peace thanks to everyone around her. She might not know exactly what she wants, but now she won't be bothered by her father.
